In Ghaziabad, a 35-year-old man was taken into custody on Sunday for allegedly causing the death of a 70-year-old woman during an altercation with her son in Madhuban Bapudham. According to authorities, the woman, Ramvati Devi, was trying to protect her son, Bijendra Kumar, during an argument with the suspect, Majid, who resides in the same area. Majid allegedly pushed Ramvati, causing her to fall and sustain fatal injuries. Abhishek Srivastava, the ACP of Kavi Nagar, stated that the incident occurred in LIG flats under the Kanshiram Avas Yojna where Bijendra lived with his brother and mother. The confrontation arose late at night when Majid, an e-rickshaw driver reportedly intoxicated, was confronted by Bijendra for being outside their residence. Ramvati tried to calm the situation but ended up getting pushed by Majid, resulting in her sustaining severe head injuries leading to her death. The case is under investigation with an FIR filed at Madhuban Bapudham police station under relevant sections of the law, and the accused has been remanded to judicial custody after appearing in court.
